I’m Trula and this is my fitness & weight loss blog. I’m 41 years old and live in Northeast Ohio, USA. I’m a mother of 3 children, ages 23, 18, and 15, and like many mothers I struggled with losing weight after having children. In 2004 I wrote a book titled Supple Mama: Fitness, Nutrition, and Healthy Body Image for Moms, with an emphasis on mothers getting a healthy body image. I’m re-releasing it this year with additional info on nutrition including healthy portion sizes.
To my chagrin a whole lot of my own advice and research went out the window in 2007 & 2008 as I grappled with some serious family issues and other personal challenges. My weight skyrocketed to over 200 pounds! At my heaviest I was 210 238 pounds. I am only 5 feet 6 inches in height! On January 2nd, 2007 I began my fitness challenge…to say it has been a challenge is an understatement. Since then I have lost 10 24 37 42 53 70 pounds, gained most back due to certain med changes, and now as of January 1st, 2012 working on losing the weight for good. I am surely going to reach my goal of 130 pounds. The photos are all me from a period between December 2006 to present, so you get to see me shrink from 210 238 pounds to my goal weight of 130 pounds.
Highest weight as of January 1st 2012: 238 pounds
Current weight as of June 7th 2013: 149.6 pounds
Measurements
I didn’t start taking measurements until June 2012 so I don’t know what they were when I was heavier prior to that. So I have actually lost more inches!

Bust: 41.5

People told me I should start a weight loss blog but I wanted it to be more than a vehicle to sell my book. I have the book’s store page linked, sure, but all the articles and blog posts I’ve written here are free to read to help you with your own weight loss journey. If you don’t have time to read a long post, bookmark it and come back to it. I did not start this blog until I felt ready and able to share my experience with overeating and exercise issue in a compassionate manner.
I am on a mission with this blog to talk about food addiction, aversion to exercise, and other issues that kept me physically overweight and emotionally sick inside. I want to change my outlook about being overweight and take responsibility for my weight and health issues caused by excess fat. It is OK to want to be fit and healthy!
Jump in with your comments any time but it’s OK to just read, too. You can also get updates to this blog by RSS feed and by email subscription, just click on the selection in the left column, right at the top. I add my own exercise and food goals daily on My Fitness Pal. All photos/pics mine unless otherwise credited.

hey there, i remember first coming across your website when i was 15 years old i think in 2001.
i wanted dread locks because i was tired of my mama burning my head with relaxers. i remember exchaging emails, i had a little website myself but its long gone.
im 23 years old now, going on 24 – and i have had them ever since.
i had to go on a type of chemo therapy for my rheumatoid arthritis and it caused some bald patches in 2004. i was going to shave them off, i was so depressed but then i remember how you untwisted yours, and i did that to cover the bald spots and now my hair has grown back and i didnt have to shave them off.
imagine, now– i am working towards weightloss i couldnt walk for a year and went from 180 to 255. i have lost the weight, but im afraid its going to happen again. and i typed in “back fat” to google images, and i got your before and after page!! trulamama your still on the net doing bigger and better things! i want to say that i feel like god has made you into an inspiration for many people
