Understanding Your Woman Body

I think the key to loving your adult female body is understanding that you will never, ever ever have your slim teenage body back again (if you were slim then, that is) and to understand that women’s bodies naturally tend to hold fat precisely because we may carry and birth a child. Even if you didn’t physically bear children, your body matures as you age. Even Naomi Campbell doesn’t have her 16 year-old body, you know?

It will take some time to see the results of working out. Don’t be discouraged and give up! You will notice a difference in how you feel though, almost right away. I felt more energetic, I slept better, and I felt more emotionally peaceful once I started exercising regularly; within a couple of weeks I noticed a difference. What helped me with the tummy pouch was to do exercises that strengthened my abdominal muscles.

If it’s fat it will slowly decrease as you eat healthier and exercise more. If it’s skin it will slowly tighten up as you exercise. It’s not a quick process, and you may never have a model-flat belly, and that’s ok! Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes, and I suspect after a while you won’t care anyway because you’ll be happy with how you look and feel after just a few months of changing your exercise habits.
